Role Description The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is a full-time, on-site role based at Van Duyn Center in the Greater Syracuse–Auburn Area. The CNA provides direct resident care, including assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding. Responsibilities include taking and recording vital signs, observing and reporting changes in resident condition, and supporting mobility and transfers using appropriate safety techniques. The CNA helps maintain a clean, comfortable, and safe environment, supports residents’ emotional and social well-being, and collaborates with nursing and interdisciplinary team members. The role also involves accurate documentation, adherence to facility policies and infection control standards, and respectful, person-centered communication with residents, families, and colleagues. Qualifications Current New York State Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification and completion of an approved CNA training program. Demonstrated skills in direct resident care, including assistance with personal hygiene, mobility support, and safe transfer techniques. Ability to accurately measure and record vital signs, observe changes in condition, and report concerns to licensed nursing staff. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and multidisciplinary team members in a respectful, person-centered manner. Capacity to work in a fast-paced skilled nursing environment, including reliable attendance, time management, and teamwork. Knowledge of infection control practices, safety procedures, and basic documentation standards in a long-term care or rehabilitation setting. Prior experience in skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care is preferred but not required; willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
