Behavioral Health Technician / Case Manager — Daytime & Overnight Shifts

Pay: $17–$21 per hour for either shift, based on experience, education, credentials, and qualifications

About the Position

Albuquerque Behavioral Care is seeking dependable, compassionate, and organized Behavioral Health Technicians / Case Managers to support clients working toward recovery, stability, and independence.

This position combines direct client support, case management, documentation, safety monitoring, and daily program operations. Both shifts share the same core responsibilities, with daytime staff focusing more on appointments and resource coordination and overnight staff emphasizing client safety, monitoring, and preparation for the following day.

We are looking for team members who take initiative, communicate clearly, maintain professional boundaries, and follow through on responsibilities. You will work closely with our Director of Operations, Clinical Director, and other staff to maintain a structured, respectful, recovery-focused environment.

Core Responsibilities — Both Shifts

• Provide respectful client support, encouragement, guidance, and redirection.
• Help clients identify practical needs, barriers, goals, and next steps.
• Support goals established in clients’ treatment and service plans within the scope of your role.
• Assist clients with housing resources, benefits applications, identification documents, employment readiness, and community referrals.
• Track assigned client needs, appointments, referrals, and follow-up tasks.
• Monitor client well-being and complete assigned safety and wellness checks.
• Reinforce program expectations consistently while maintaining dignity and professional boundaries.
• Recognize signs of distress, use approved de-escalation techniques, and promptly involve clinical staff or emergency services when needed.
• Complete accurate, timely case-management notes, shift logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Use the Electronic Health Record (EHR), shared calendars, and attendance trackers as assigned.
• Assist with admissions, orientation, paperwork, and daily living routines.
• Maintain client confidentiality and share information only through authorized channels.
• Provide clear shift handoffs describing client needs, safety concerns, and unfinished tasks.
• Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, and significant incidents promptly.
• Perform only services and duties appropriate to your training, credentials, and assigned responsibilities.

Daytime Shift Focus

• Coordinate medical, behavioral-health, benefits, housing, and community-service appointments.
• Follow up with agencies, referral partners, courts, probation, or parole when properly authorized.
• Help clients organize schedules and attend assigned groups, individual sessions, and appointments.
• Support employment searches, résumé preparation, education, and ABC’s Work Readiness Program.
• Coordinate approved transportation and operate company vehicles when authorized.
• Support daily program activities, attendance tracking, and client follow-through.

Overnight Shift Focus

• Remain awake, alert, and available throughout the assigned shift.
• Conduct scheduled safety and wellness checks and document observations.
• Monitor common areas and campus conditions in accordance with program policies and client privacy requirements.
• Help maintain a calm, safe environment and reinforce overnight expectations.
• Respond to client distress, incidents, or emergencies using established procedures.
• Complete overnight documentation and assigned case-management follow-up that can be performed during the shift.
• Prepare a clear morning handoff covering appointments, outstanding client needs, incidents, and required follow-up.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Hold and maintain all credentials, certifications, and licenses required for assigned services and duties, including applicable New Mexico and payer requirements.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through skills.
• Comfort using computers, email, shared calendars, and electronic records.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and respectful client interactions.
• Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during challenging situations.
• Reliable attendance and availability for the assigned shift.
• Successful completion of required background checks and employment requirements.
• Ability to obtain or maintain required CPR, First Aid, and safety training.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record if assigned to operate a company vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in behavioral health, case management, mental health, substance-use treatment, residential support, recovery services, or social services.
• Relevant education in social work, psychology, behavioral health, human services, or a related field.
• Relevant peer-support certification or experience.
• Knowledge of Albuquerque-area housing, benefits, employment, and community resources.
• Experience with EHR systems and service documentation.
• Training in trauma-informed care, crisis prevention, or de-escalation.
• Experience supporting clients involved in courts, probation, parole, or reentry programs.
• Bilingual English and Spanish skills.
