High School Athletic Trainer - Substitute JobID: 24667 Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Extra Duties Stipends/ Athletic Trainer Date Posted: 8/10/2026 Location: District Wide - Glendale, AZ Closing Date: 12/31/2026 Position Title: High School Athletic Trainer - Substitute Department: Athletic Department Supervisor: Assistant Principal at Site (Athletic Director) Salary Classification: $35.00/hr - Paid by timesheet Job Summary: The position of Athletic Trainer is to practice the prevention, care and rehabilitation of injuries incurred through athletic participation with the use of physical modalities. Additionally, the position will be responsible for teaching first aid and CPR procedures to coaching staff. Essential Functions: Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not limited to, the following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES generally include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Administer a program to provide for emergency care, treatment, and rehabilitation of injured high school athletes in compliance with National AthleticTrainers' Association guidelines a) Prevention of athletic injuries and/or illnesses b) Evaluation and recognition of athletic injuries or illnesses c) First aid and emergency care and weekday practices d) Be on-site for all home games and weekday practices e) Travel to all varsity football games and regional and state tournament games in all sports, as scheduled by the campus athletic director In conjunction with the coach(es), the certified athletic trainer will follow the developed guidelines and emergency care procedure procedures a) Assist the head coach in developing an emergency medical plan for each sport b) Counsel athletes and their parents in seeking proper medical assistance for follow-up care and/or surgery c) Work under the direction of the team physician or other cooperating physician with respect to athletes' treatment goals d) Advise the coach when an athlete may return and to what extent participation in practice or games following injury or illness e) Maintain records on athletic injuries, physician referrals, and treatments administered Assist and advise the Physical Education/Health and coaching staff regarding injury prevention, conditioning programs, and the selection, care and fitting of protective equipment a) Conduct in-service programs for the coaching staff in the care and prevention of athletic injuries b) Initiate and administer a studenttrainer program. It should include instructions and supervision in first aid techniques, protective taping, wraps and dressings, and use of therapeutic modalities Be responsible for the organization, inventory, and requisition of all training room supplies. Submit annual budget for all first aid and medical supply needs for the year Meet re-certification standards as established by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Provides classroom coverage in case of campus declared emergency Performs other duties as assigned or required KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county and city statutes, rules, policies and procedures Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures Skill in CPR and First Aide techniques Skill leadership and decision making Skill in communicating in oral and written form Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district. Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or one two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid teaching certificate or substitute teaching certificate. Valid Athletic Trainer Certificate as issued by the Board of Certification and licensed by the Arizona Board of Athletic Training. Ability to obtain malpractice insurance. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license May be required to lift and carry heavy, bulky supplies and materials weighing up to 20 pounds May be required to lift students weighing up to 60 pounds May be required to work outside normal working hours May be required to travel to perform work functions #J-18808-Ljbffr
