SCHOOL BUS DRIVER (INCLUDES BENEFITS)

Position Overview School Bus Driver positions are available with benefits. Most positions are 6‑hour day shifts during a 10‑month school year. Permanent positions are eligible for District benefits. An eligibility list is being established to fill future permanent and substitute vacancies. Responsibilities Operate a school bus in the transportation of students to and from school or field trips following designated routes and time schedules. Conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure bus is in safe operating condition. Maintain student discipline and safety while on the bus. Keep related records of inspections, incidents, and student behavior. Follow written and oral instructions from the Director of Transportation Services or Supervisor. Qualifications & Requirements High school diploma or equivalency (desirable). Experience as a school bus driver (desirable). Valid Class A or B California Commercial Driver License with Passenger, School Bus and Air‑Brake endorsements (copy front and back). Type 1 California Special Driver Certificate endorsed for School Bus operation by the DMV with a 0, 1, or 6 restriction (copy front and back). Current DL‑51a Medical Certificate approved by the DMV. Valid First‑Aid certificate comparable to the American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate (if applicable) (copy front and back). Current DMV Official Driver Record. All licenses and certificates must remain current and maintained throughout employment. Must pass a drug and alcohol test (safety‑sensitive classification). Must comply with all district policies and procedures. Working Environment & Physical Requirements Employees work primarily outdoors in varying temperatures, inclement weather, and in contact with gas, exhaust, and cleaning solvents. The role involves exposure to minor and severe contagious illnesses and diseases. Physical demands include sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lb., pulling, climbing stairs, stooping, twisting, and operating a motorized vehicle. Benefits Summary Health, dental, vision, life insurance and income protection for employees working 30 hours or more per week. Sick leave: one day per full month of service. Paid holidays: 15 per year plus one floating holiday for full‑time employees. Vacation days: up to 12 per year, increasing with service.
