RN Charge Nurse

As an RN Charge Nurse at Sovah Health, you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. Serving patients from southern Virginia and northern North Carolina, you will coordinate and oversee the flow of care on your assigned unit while also providing hands-on, evidence-based nursing care. Drawing on your clinical expertise and sound judgment, you will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, and continuously evaluate patient responses to ensure safe and effective outcomes.

In this position, you will function as the primary resource and point of contact for staff during your shift, managing patient assignments based on acuity, staffing levels, and skill mix. You will support a culture of compassion, teamwork, and excellence by mentoring and coaching nurses and support staff, fostering open communication, and modeling best practices in clinical care and professionalism. Working closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and ancillary departments, you will help coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges to maintain efficient patient flow and optimize the patient and family experience.

The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for promoting adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and evidence-based protocols, including infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives. You will respond to and help lead the team during emergencies and rapid response situations, ensuring appropriate escalation and resource utilization. Accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record, clear communication with patients and families, and active participation in problem-solving and process improvement are essential aspects of this role.
