Cashier – Astoria Flyways Wilcox + Flegel is hiring a friendly and enthusiastic Cashier for our Astoria Flyways convenience store. This full‑time position runs 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, five days a week, including weekends (shifts may change based on business needs). Your duties include working the register, stocking shelves, maintaining clean and organized aisles, and ensuring a pleasant shopping experience. Essential Position Functions and Responsibilities Ring up customer purchases and accept payments by cash, check, credit card, or automatic debit. Issue receipts, process refunds, credits, or change. Offer product information and benefits to customers. Maintain professional relationships with customers and coworkers; address concerns. Keep accurate transaction records and protect sales confidentiality. Complete shift reports and temperature check reports accurately. Verify cash drawer count at the start of each shift. Greet customers upon entry and exit. Keep checkout area clean and orderly. Stock shelves and apply price tags to items. Operate car wash (if applicable). Empty trash cans and sanitize restrooms. Monitor parking lot for trash. Provide on‑job training when requested. Compute every transaction. Complete any other duties as assigned. Critical Core Competencies and Skills Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills. Highly organized and able to multi‑task. Fast learner, adaptable, agile, flexible, and resilient. Good customer service skills. Basic math proficiency. Self‑motivated with the ability to follow directions and work independently. Proficient operating a cash register and handling numbers. Attention to detail. Minimum Education and Experience None specified. Preferred Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior experience as a store clerk preferred. Licenses, Certifications and Training Food handlers card (obtainable at start of position). CPR training required. Other required training as needed. Equipment and Software Cash register and computer system required. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Exposure to cleaning and disinfecting chemicals. Typical standing or walking for up to 4 hours per shift; bending, crouching, stooping, and repetitive wrist/hand movements common. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.
