Job Title: Sterile Processing Associate II (SPD Technician II)
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day)

Compensation:

• Travel Pay: Starts from $1,770/week

• Local Pay: Starts from $36/hour

The Sterile Processing Associate II (SPD Technician II) is a skilled professional responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. This role supports surgical services by ensuring all instruments and supplies are processed in accordance with established standards, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

The technician is expected to demonstrate expertise in surgical instrumentation, specialty tray assembly, sterilization methods, instrument tracking systems, and surgical case preparation.

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment

• Inspect, assemble, and package instrument trays according to count sheets

• Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulatory requirements

• Operate sterilization and automated processing equipment

• Maintain accurate records using instrument tracking systems

• Prepare case carts and surgical supplies for procedures

• Store and distribute sterile instruments and supplies appropriately

• CRCST Certification required

• 1–2 years of sterile processing experience with demonstrated competencies

• Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation and tray assembly

• Ability to lift, push, pull, or move supplies and equipment (with or without assistance)

• Ability to safely handle chemicals and detergents

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work quickly and accurately

• Good communication and teamwork skills

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

• Basic mathematical skills

• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office

• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed

• Physical stamina and manual dexterity

• Visual and auditory acuity

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

• Basic reading, writing, and math skills typically acquired through high school education
