About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with Malone Healthcare to find a qualified Psych RN in Kansas City, Missouri, 64101!

• Assess patients' mental health status, including recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems through thorough patient histories, behavioral observation, and diagnostic tools
• Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients with mental health and behavioral health needs, including goal-setting, interventions, and outcome evaluation
• Administer psychiatric and psychotropic medications while monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support for patients experiencing suicidal ideation, aggression, or acute psychiatric crises; Active Blue Card CPI certification required
• Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects
• Utilize therapeutic communication techniques - including active listening and empathy - to build trust and rapport with patients across multiple inpatient psychiatric units (adolescent, adult, senior, and varying acuity levels)

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Active BLS certification required
• Active Blue Card CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of psychiatric or behavioral health nursing experience
• Proficiency or ability to quickly adapt to Meditech documentation system

• Experience working across varied psychiatric populations including adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
• Familiarity with thought disorder diagnoses and higher-acuity inpatient psychiatric settings
• Knowledge of AIDET communication framework and patient-centered care values
• Experience floating between units based on census and acuity needs

• Gain diverse clinical experience across multiple specialized psychiatric units serving adolescent, adult, and senior populations with varying acuity levels
• 48-hour weekly guarantee provides stability and predictability throughout your 13-week assignment
