Registered Nurse - Equiliem

Position Overview


The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care and clinical oversight within a behavioral health setting. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment teams to support patient care and safety. The RN delegates appropriate responsibilities to support staff, ensures compliance with nursing policies and procedures, and participates in emergency response and treatment planning activities while promoting patient rights and quality care standards.


Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and oversee care provided by paraprofessional staff.
  
  
• Conduct patient assessments and initiate individualized nursing care plans using the nursing process.
  
  
• Participate actively as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
  
  
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
  
  
• Transcribe physician orders accurately and timely.
  
  
• Complete and maintain documentation related to patient care, admissions, assessments, screenings, progress notes, medications, and treatment interventions.
  
  
• Oversee patient care assignments and ensure appropriate coverage and continuity of care.
  
  
• Attend treatment team meetings and acuity meetings as required.
  
  
• Update treatment plans and nursing plans of care while ensuring follow-up interventions are properly documented.
  
  
• Train and precept newly hired nursing staff and provide clinical guidance during orientation and shadowing assignments.
  
  
• Conduct documentation audits and follow up with staff and nursing supervisors regarding identified deficiencies.
  
  
• Complete annual patient assessments for assigned units.
  
  
• Prepare probation reports and evaluations for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
  
  
• Collaborate with supervisors to provide performance feedback and evaluations for nursing and support staff.
  
  
• Complete all required organizational and regulatory training programs.
  
  
• Manage and respond to medical and psychiatric emergencies in a safe and effective manner.
  
  
• Ensure compliance with all nursing policies, procedures, infection control standards, and patient rights regulations.
  
  

Job Requirements

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license and registration in the State of New York.
  
  
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
  
  
• Minimum of one year of behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
  
  
• Knowledge of behavioral health nursing practices, patient safety standards, and crisis intervention techniques.
  
  
• Familiarity with quality management, nursing administration, and infection control practices preferred.
  
  
• Experience with Joint Commission standards and regulatory compliance preferred.
  
  
• Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and follow-up skills.
  
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  
  
• Proficiency with computer systems, electronic documentation, word processing, and scheduling software.
  
  
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  
  
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  
  
• Ability to comply with attendance policies, scheduling requirements, and time-off procedures.
  
  

Work Experience

• Behavioral health nursing experience preferred.
  
  
• Experience in psychiatric or mental health facilities preferred.
  
  
• Experience within New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH) facilities preferred.
  
  
• Experience with quality management, infection control, or Joint Commission accreditation processes preferred.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)

• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  
  
• Every other weekend and some holidays required.
  
  
• Contract assignment through 09/15/2026.
  
  
• Candidates must complete all pre-employment and onboarding requirements prior to starting assignment.
  
  
• Compliance with facility attendance and scheduling policies is required.
