Aviation Compliance Specialist
Weyerhaeuser is searching for an Aviation Compliance Specialist to join our Western Timberlands Aviation team in McMinnville, Oregon. This is a full-time, salary-exempt position and reports to the Aviation Operations Manager. This role serves as the organization's subject matter expert for FAA regulatory compliance and is responsible for the development, implementation, administration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of aviation compliance programs across all aspects of flight operations, maintenance, aircraft records, pilot qualifications, training, parts tracking, and regulatory reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the organization's primary subject matter expert on FAA regulations applicable to company operations.
- Develop and maintain compliance policies, procedures, standards, and best practices that support regulatory adherence.
- Design and execute internal compliance monitoring programs to evaluate adherence to FAA regulations, company policies, and operational standards.
- Lead compliance reviews, audits, and assessments across maintenance, flight operations, training, and records management functions.
- Partner with operational leadership to ensure compliance requirements are effectively integrated into daily operations.
- Serve as the primary liaison with FAA representatives during inspections, audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries.
- Develop corrective action plans and track resolution of identified compliance deficiencies.
- Prepare compliance reports and communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to management.
- Support organizational responses to regulatory findings and oversee implementation of corrective actions.
- Analyze audit findings, identify systemic issues, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate operational processes for regulatory compliance risks and recommend process improvements.
- Interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical operational procedures and compliance controls.
- Monitor proposed and enacted regulatory changes, evaluate business impacts, and lead implementation of required compliance actions.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aviation Maintenance Management, Regulatory Compliance, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent aviation compliance experience will be considered. Minimum 710 years of progressive experience in aviation regulatory compliance, quality assurance, aviation maintenance records, flight operations compliance, or related aviation regulatory functions. Advanced knowledge of FAA regulations, compliance frameworks, recordkeeping requirements, and regulatory oversight processes. Demonstrated experience interpreting regulatory requirements and implementing compliance programs and procedures. Experience conducting compliance audits, investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action management. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment. Ability to communicate complex regulatory requirements to diverse audiences and influence compliance outcomes across the organization.
Preferred Qualifications FAA regulatory compliance, quality assurance, or aviation safety management experience. Experience supporting Part 91, Part 133, Part 135, or Part 137 operations. Experience serving as a primary point of contact during FAA audits, inspections, or regulatory reviews. Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS), risk management methodologies, and compliance monitoring systems. Experience developing compliance training programs and operational procedures.
