Pay Range: $20-$35 per hour

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Survey Lead to join our engineering and surveying team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive field survey experience, and specific expertise using TOPCON survey equipment and software. This role is responsible for overseeing field crews, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data collection, and maintaining high-quality standards on all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise survey crews in daily field operations
• Plan, coordinate, and execute survey projects including boundary, topographic, construction staking, and as-built surveys
• Operate and troubleshoot TOPCON GPS, robotic total stations, and data collectors
• Ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications, engineering plans, and regulatory requirements
• Perform field calculations and data verification
• Train and mentor junior survey staff
• Communicate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients
• Maintain survey equipment and ensure proper calibration
• Prepare and review field notes and reports

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2+ years of surveying experience
• Demonstrated proficiency with TOPCON equipment and software (MAGNET, Pocket 3D, or similar)
• Strong understanding of surveying principles, methods, and best practices
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction plans
• Experience with GPS, total stations, and data collection systems
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) certification
• Experience in construction staking and civil engineering projects
• Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software
• OSHA safety training or certification

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Capable of walking long distances, lifting equipment (up to 50 lbs), and working on uneven terrain
