Varsity Boys Basketball Coach

Summary Gwinn Middle/High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to serve as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a competitive basketball program that fosters teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development among student-athletes. This part‑time position requires strong leadership, communication skills, and a commitment to the personal and athletic growth of each player. Responsibilities Plan and conduct daily practice sessions, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy. Develop and implement game plans and strategies for the varsity team. Monitor and assess the performance of student‑athletes during practices and games. Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress. Organize and coordinate team activities, including games, tournaments, and fundraisers. Maintain accurate records of player attendance, statistics, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with other coaches and staff to promote the overall athletic program at Gwinn Middle/High School. Ensure compliance with all school and state athletic policies and regulations. Attend coaching clinics and workshops to stay current on coaching techniques and strategies. Requirements Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school level. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes to achieve their best. Strong organizational and time management skills. First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for games and tournaments.
