RN Emergency DepartmentSilvis, ILSCHEDULE0900-2130, 3 (12hr) shifts per weekEvery other weekendHoliday rotationESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSKnows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health and MercyOne Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.Performs Rapid and Comprehensive AssessmentsConducts initial triage and assessment within minutes of patient arrival.Prioritizes care based on acuity using Emergency Severity Index (ESI) or similar triage tools.Completes focused and comprehensive assessments as appropriate to presenting condition.Develops and Implements Emergency Care PlansIdentifies immediate patient needs and formulates rapid response plans.Initiates and revises care plans based on evolving patient conditions.Coordinates with interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely interventions.Delivers Timely and Effective InterventionsAdministers medications, treatments, and procedures per physician orders and protocols.Initiates life-saving interventions including CPR, defibrillation, and airway management.Prepares patients for diagnostic testing, procedures, or transfer to higher levels of care.Evaluates Patient Responses and Adjusts CareContinuously monitors patient status and response to interventions.Reassesses and updates care plans based on clinical changes.Documents all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and promptly.Facilitates Communication and CoordinationCommunicates critical information to physicians and team members.Provides clear and compassionate updates to patients and families.Participates in shift handoffs, trauma alerts, and interdisciplinary huddles.Demonstrates Clinical Competence in Emergency NursingMaintains proficiency in emergency procedures and equipment (e.g., IV insertion, EKG interpretation, wound care).Follows protocols for stroke, sepsis, trauma, and cardiac emergencies.Uses clinical judgment to escalate care and activate rapid response or code teams.Assures medication safety by following the "5 Rights" of medication administrationManages Multiple Patients and Prioritizes CareBalances care for multiple patients with varying acuity levels.Delegates tasks appropriately to support staff.Maintains situational awareness and adapts to rapidly changing conditions.Provides Age-Appropriate and Culturally Sensitive CareAdjusts communication and interventions based on patient age and developmental level.Respects cultural beliefs and practices in the delivery of care.Ensures Safety and ComplianceAdheres to infection control, safety, and emergency preparedness protocols.Uses personal protective equipment appropriately.Reports unsafe conditions and participates in safety initiatives.Maintains Professional Standards and Regulatory ComplianceComplies with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies.Participates in continuing education and competency validation.Upholds ethical standards and maintains patient confidentiality.Other duties as assigned by the manager.Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health's Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.Mission Statement: We, MercyOne Trinity Health, serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming healing presence within our communities.Core Values:Reverence: We honor the sacredness and dignity of every person.Commitment to Those who are Poor: We stand with and serve those who are poor, especially those most vulnerable.Safety: We embrace a culture that prevents harm and nurtures a healing, safe environment for all.Justice: We foster the right relationships to promote the common good, including sustainability of Earth.Stewardship: We honor our heritage and hold ourselves accountable for the human, financial and natural resources entrusted to our care.Integrity: We are faithful to those we say we are.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociate degree in nursing required.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.Current Iowa RN license, (MercyOne Genesis - current Registered Nurse (RN) license in either Iowa or Illinois is required at the time of hire.
