ASCP Registered Nurse - Operating Room (RN-OR)

Join a dedicated healthcare team providing compassionate perioperative care to patients ranging from neonates to geriatrics in a dynamic regional medical center located in the Pacific Northwest. This full-time role involves direct patient care throughout the entire surgical process, including preoperative preparation, intraoperative assistance, and postoperative recovery in the PACU.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver patient-centered care with kindness and professionalism, addressing psychosocial and physical needs during the perioperative period.
• Serve as the Circulating RN, maintaining continuous communication with surgeons and anesthesia providers regarding patient status.
• Prepare operating rooms by ensuring equipment readiness, obtaining necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic technique.
• Assist patients safely during positioning, prepping, and draping for surgical procedures.
• Provide preoperative assessments including health history, IV starts, and administration of pre-op medications.
• Monitor and care for patients in Phase I and II recovery until discharge.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition, including pain assessment and management, and behavioral responses.
• Support a culture of safety and quality by adhering to protocols and participating in performance improvement activities.

Education and Experience

• Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure valid in the state or through an approved compact license.
• Certifications including ACLS, NRP, PALS, and BLS within one year of hire.
• Minimum of one year of operating room experience preferred; willingness to train in perioperative nursing is essential.
• Additional certifications such as CPAN, CAPA, or CNOR and a BSN degree are advantageous.
