Boiler Burner Technician

Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of commercial and industrial boiler and burner systems to ensure safe and efficient operation. Key responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and resolving mechanical or electrical issues, conducting safety and performance tests, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. The role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, the ability to read blueprints, good customer communication skills, and the ability to work independently in various environments. 

Key Responsibilities

·         Maintenance & Installation:

Perform scheduled maintenance, install new equipment, and conduct annual inspections on boiler systems. 

·         Troubleshooting & Repair:

Diagnose and repair malfunctions in boiler and burner systems, including associated controls, electrical circuits, and piping. 

·         Combustion Tuning & Start-up:

Adjust burner settings for optimal combustion and performance, and commission new or reconditioned boilers. 

·         Testing & Safety:

Conduct safety checks and performance tests to ensure systems meet operational and regulatory standards. 

·         Documentation:

Record data on fuel usage, system pressure, and maintenance activities. 

·         Customer Service:

Interact with clients, explain issues, and provide recommendations for system improvements. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

·         Mechanical & Electrical Knowledge: Strong understanding of boiler systems, associated controls, and electrical systems. 

·         Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex issues in various systems. 

·         Technical Proficiency: Skill in reading blueprints, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools. 

·         Certifications: May require certifications for specific types of gas and oil burners and equipment. 

·         Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, climb, bend, and work in confined spaces. 

·         Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and other technicians. 

·         Valid Driver's License: Required for travel to customer sites and use of service vehicles. 

Working Conditions

·         On-Call Support: Often involves being on-call for 24/7 emergency service. 

·         Environment: Exposure to elevated temperatures and potentially challenging work environments. 

·         Travel: May require driving to different job sites, sometimes involving travel.
