Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Operating Room/Urology Center role requiring 2+ years of OR RN experience and BLS certification.

Details

• Work in the Urology Center OR with 3 Cysto rooms (flexible up to 4)
• Procedures include TURP, TURBT, cystoscopy, ureteroscopy, and prostate biopsies
• Adult patient population, mostly outpatient with approximately 10% inpatient cases
• 1:1 RN to patient ratio
• 9hr day shift schedule, start times vary between 8am-5:30pm or 9am-6:30pm
• 36 standard hours per week
• Weekend rotation is call only, every 5th weekend from 0600-1830 Saturday and Sunday
• Holiday on-call required, 1 summer and 1 winter, 0600-1830
• May float to PACU in a supportive task-based role without primary documentation responsibilities
• EPIC EMR preferred
• Uses Alaris and Pyxis equipment

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in the specialty area required
• Experience with consents, positioning, prep, documentation, check-ins, patient transport, catheter changes with local sedation, and specimen transport required
• Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Located in Milwaukee, WI at a Level III Trauma Center and Level III NICU with Magnet Designation and Comprehensive Stroke Center status
• Facility has 933 beds
• Unit team includes 5 RNs, 3 surgical technologists, and 8 providers
• Support staff includes a charge nurse, unit secretary (dayshift), on-call physician (24/7), respiratory therapy (24/7), and phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws
• Orientation ranges from 1-3 days based on comfort level
• Procedural scrubs provided
• Must document pain levels before and after administering pain medication, ensuring pain score matches medication order level
• Facility adheres to a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Manager approval required for all requested time off
• First-time travelers accepted for this position
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate with no radius rules
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must be separated for at least 12 months before becoming eligible for travel assignment
• Clinical interview with manager required before offer
