Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, the incumbent will often develop these products with minimal direct supervision beyond written guidelines. Nearly 70 years ago, in Brown v. Board of Education, the Supreme Court held that the intentional segregation of students on the basis of race in public schools violates the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Subsequent federal legislation and court decisions further mandate that school officials not discriminate against students on the basis of race, color, sex, national origin, language barriers, religion, or disability. The Educational Opportunities Section enforces these statutes and court decisions across a diverse range of cases involving elementary and secondary schools, as well as institutions of higher education**.**This is not a remote position; on-site presence in Washington, DC is required five days per week.
