Conflicts Lateral Liaison

Overview

A leading professional services organization is seeking a Conflicts & Lateral Onboarding Liaison to support new business operations, with a focus on integrating lateral hires. This role serves as a key connector across departments, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for incoming partners and the efficient transition of their clients and matters.

The Liaison acts as the primary point of contact for lateral partners during onboarding and plays a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of conflicts data. This position also contributes to process improvement initiatives, including tracking and converting lateral opportunities into active client matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with recruiting and internal stakeholders to coordinate conflicts and risk processes for lateral hires, including associates.
• Serve as the primary contact for incoming partners, managing onboarding priorities related to client and matter intake.
• Develop and maintain detailed tracking tools to monitor onboarding progress for each partner's portfolio.
• Collaborate closely with conflicts and new business teams to review client/matter status and facilitate necessary approvals or waivers.
• Oversee the transfer of electronic and physical files, coordinating regularly with records management teams.
• Assist in structuring and drafting engagement terms for new clients.
• Support administrative staff in navigating conflicts searches and new business intake processes.
• Identify and escalate onboarding challenges or delays to appropriate stakeholders.
• Prepare conflicts and due diligence reports using internal systems and external research tools.
• Conduct initial reviews of conflicts requests and ensure completeness and accuracy of submitted information.
• Create and update training materials related to onboarding and conflicts processes.
• Participate in special projects and continuous improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree required
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a research, analytical, or compliance-focused role within a legal or professional services environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred:

• Experience with conflicts or compliance functions in a large law firm
• Familiarity with research platforms such as Capital IQ, Dun & Bradstreet, or Bureau van Dijk
• Experience using conflicts or risk management systems (e.g., Intapp, Elite, Wall Builder)
