Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Mechanic

The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE). Responsibilities Conduct diagnostics and repair of less complex maintenance problems. Inspect, approve, and document completed maintenance actions using drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical publications. Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor trends, analyze equipment requirements, and maintain records. Diagnose and repair GSE using conventional and digital electrical test equipment (multimeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers). Maintain external fuel and grounding systems and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine serviceability and proper operation. Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air; diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions. Disassemble, assemble, clean, treat for corrosion, and reinstall malfunctioning GSE components and accessories; stencil and mark GSE per technical publications. Store, handle, label, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with environmental standards. Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment; operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles. Maintain vehicle and equipment records; provide dispatch service for GSE in support of aircraft maintenance and flying operations. Maintain good housekeeping, hazmat, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety practices. Undertake additional duties as required to support overall mission and travel to other CBP locations if needed. Minimum Requirements Must obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance (US Citizenship required). High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program. Possess a commercial driver's license (CDL) with HAZMAT endorsement. At least 2 years’ experience working full‑time on diesel generators and vehicles. At least 2 years’ experience on gasoline engines and vehicles. Proficient in Office software (Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel) and able to communicate via e‑mail and other software applications. Must read, write, speak, and understand English and comprehend/interpret data. Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow. Physical Requirements / Working Environment Lifting at least 50 lbs.; must provide own tools. Work may involve inclement weather, dust, wind, rain, and high noise hazards requiring ear protection.
