A professional individual contributor role may direct the work of lower-level professionals or manage processes and programs, overseeing design, implementation, or delivery of policies using specialized knowledge. This specialist-level role, recognized as a subject‑matter expert, typically manages large projects or processes with limited oversight, coaches, reviews, delegates work, and resolves complex problems. Job Overview A Medical Doctor is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients' health conditions while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, specialists, and support staff, to provide excellent healthcare services. Job Description Minimum Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO). Successful completion of a Residency Program. Successful completion of a Fellowship, if appropriate for medical specialty. Licensure to practice medicine. Board certification in relevant medical specialty. Hospital approved credentials (medical license, clinical privileges). Unrestricted DEA number. Appropriate certificate necessary for area of practice (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, etc.). Duties and Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, including medical history review, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests to diagnose and determine appropriate treatment plans for hospitalized patients. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans considering medical condition, co‑morbidities, and overall well‑being while collaborating with specialists and healthcare teams. Provide continuous inpatient care by conducting regular rounds, monitoring patients' progress, assessing response to treatment, and addressing complications or changes in conditions. Prescribe and administer medications, therapies, and medical interventions according to established protocols, ensuring accurate dosages and timely administration. Perform various medical procedures and interventions within area of expertise. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other relevant investigations, to aid accurate diagnosis and treatment monitoring. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, specialists, pharmacists, and support staff, to ensure coordinated patient care. Communicate effectively with patients and families, providing clear explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and prognosis, and addressing questions or concerns. Educate patients and families on self‑care, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and post‑discharge instructions to facilitate understanding and active participation in healthcare. Document accurate and complete medical records, including patient histories, physical examination findings, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in accordance with legal and ethical standards. Participate in hospital committees, case conferences, and multidisciplinary rounds to discuss complex cases, review outcomes, and contribute to quality improvement. Attend conferences, seminars, and continuing medical education programs to stay updated on medical research, guidelines, and advancements. Adhere to hospital policies and protocols, including infection control, patient safety initiatives, and regulatory requirements, to ensure a safe environment. Provide leadership and supervision to medical residents, interns, and medical students, offering guidance, mentorship, and support for clinical learning and professional development. Maintain professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality in all aspects of patient care, promoting trust, empathy, and respect in interactions. Physical Requirements Prolonged standing/walking. Lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring patients and equipment. Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Frequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, sick patients, bodily substances, noise, and possible radiation, lasers, electric shock, etc. Regular exposure to risk of bloodborne diseases and other transmissible infections. Contact with patients in emergency transport (ambulances, helicopters, aircraft). Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handle emergency crisis situations. Potential contact with hazardous materials. Skills & Abilities Demonstrated clinical competence and expertise in managing acute and chronic medical conditions. Provide patient care across the lifespan with consideration of aging, development, and cultural patterns. Effective interpersonal skills for interacting with physicians, staff, patients, and families. Excellent analytical skills to evaluate patients and determine appropriate treatments. Maintain sensitivity and flexibility in coping with difficult situations. Attention to detail and commitment to accurate medical records. Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Adhere to professional ethics and confidentiality guidelines.
