Per Diem Lactation Specialist (IBCLC Certification Required) at NYU Langone Health Brooklyn, NY

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Per Diem Lactation Specialist. The successful candidate will be an expert member of the perinatal health care team who is knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in lactation and breastfeeding management. Responsibilities include providing education, assistance and support to breastfeeding women and infants in accordance with breastfeeding regulatory/professional standards and public health initiatives. Job Responsibilities Perform a complete evaluation of the breastfeeding mother and infant’s ability to latch Collaborate with the health care team to implement a plan of care for the breastfeeding mother and infant Document all lactation consults in Epic using lactation documentation Consider the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultures Serve as a support and resource for the Women and Children staff and other health professionals Work collaboratively with outpatient services to support and educate expectant and new mothers Provide orientation and ongoing staff development programs related to breastfeeding Demonstrate knowledge of the organization’s Service Standards and incorporate them into performance responsibilities Function as a respectful member of the health care team Promote own professional growth and development Educate parents on all aspects of infant feeding Analyze information to identify any concerns and/or problems experienced by the mother and infant Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree Current Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (I.B.L.C.E.) Minimum of two years lactation consultant experience Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem‑solving ability Weekends and evenings preferred Preferred Qualifications Minimum of five years lactation consultant experience Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem‑solving ability Salary The salary range is $58.00 - $58.00 hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses, incentive pay, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
