Surgical Scrub Technician

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and unit support activities within the operating room suite
• Demonstrate knowledge of surgical procedures by anticipating needs prior to and during each case, including assisting with dressings and cast application
• Pick cases following physician preference cards and update surgeon preference cards per established processes
• Perform and document accurate surgical counts, including towel clips and instrument trays, ensuring all counts are signed before the patient leaves the room
• Identify problems and take appropriate action independently to accomplish department objectives and improve quality of care
• Comply with all count policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience as a scrub person in a hospital setting
• BLS for Healthcare Providers required
• Strong proficiency in orthopedic, neurological, and robotic surgical cases
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Completion of an approved Operating Room Technician program or demonstrated technical skills through on-the-job training
• Scrub Tech Certification (CST or equivalent)
• Experience participating in teaching and process improvement initiatives
