Spanish Medical Interpreter

Description & Requirements Medical Interpreter Lead facilitates clear, accurate and effective medical and general interpretation for healthcare staff, patients, companions and visitors. This includes, but is not limited to, interpretation, and complex scheduling. Interpret complex medical information to patients and/or companions. Demonstrate knowledge of National Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Healthcare. Assess and monitor patients' understanding of information conveyed. Advise medical personnel about cultural information that may impact patient care. Understand variety of regional accents, linguistic styles and registers. Interpret with highest degree of accuracy and completeness in consecutive, simultaneous and sight translation modes. Self‑correct, understand own linguistic limitations, seek clarification and accept corrections. Maintain knowledge of medical and general terminology. Superior fluency in one or more languages in addition to English. Utilize a variety of technology, tools, and resources to support departmental workflows. Be cross‑trained to support multiple functional areas. Serve as a role model, mentor, trainer and/or resource to coworkers. Serve as a subject‑matter expert and may assume leadership responsibility during management absence, as requested. Support an exceptional experience through all customer interactions, ensuring professional, timely and accurate communication both verbally and in writing. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience: 3 years relevant experience. Certificate: Minimum 40 hours of Professional Medical Interpreter Training. Language Assessment: Must successfully pass language assessment through St. Luke’s Health System prior to hire.
