RN – Labor & Delivery (Operating Room)Location: Raleigh, NC Openings: 3 Contract Options: 1 position at 36 hours/week and 2 positions at 48 hours/week Shift: Nights Parking: FreeUnit OverviewThe Labor & Delivery unit provides care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery, including high-risk antepartum and postpartum patients. The unit includes OB Emergency Department, Labor & Delivery, operating rooms, and PACU areas.Travel nurses may work in OBED, L&D, and OB PACU. Previous L&D operating room experience is required, including the ability to circulate C-sections.Job SummaryThe Clinical Nurse provides safe, competent, and patient-centered nursing care in accordance with professional standards. The RN assesses patient needs, develops and implements individualized care plans, evaluates outcomes, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary healthcare team.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive nursing care to Labor & Delivery and high-risk obstetric patients.Perform patient assessments and identify physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.Triage obstetric patients and prioritize care based on clinical condition.Care for patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.Circulate C-sections and provide appropriate perioperative nursing care.Perform bedside point-of-care testing as required.Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.Monitor patient conditions and communicate significant changes to the healthcare team.Provide patient and family education based on individual learning needs.Support discharge planning and continuity of care.Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.Maintain accurate clinical documentation.Follow nursing standards, hospital policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.Participate in quality improvement and unit performance initiatives.Promote a safe, clean, and secure patient-care environment.Required QualificationsMinimum 1 year of nursing experience.Previous Labor & Delivery experience required.Previous L&D operating room experience required.Must be able to circulate C-sections.Must be able to perform OB triage.Current and active Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification through AWHONN or an accepted equivalent is required.Strong clinical assessment, communication, and prioritization skills.Ability to care for patients with complex and high-risk obstetric needs.
