Junior Help Desk Support Technician

The City of Mableton is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Help Desk Support

Technician to provide first-level technical support to city staff and departments. The ideal

candidate will assist in resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues, ensuring

timely and professional service in accordance with city policies and procedures.

Serve as the first point of contact for end users seeking technical assistance via phone,

email, or in person.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and basic networking.
• Log, track, and update help desk tickets using the city’s ticketing system.
• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software.
• Escalate unresolved issues to senior IT staff or vendors when necessary.
• Support the setup of new user accounts, email, and permissions in systems such as Google Workspace.
• Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and technical support processes.
• Provide on-site support at city offices and facilities as needed.
• Assist with inventory management of IT equipment and peripherals.
• Ensure adherence to IT security policies and data protection protocols.
• Assist in managing the city’s Meraki network system, including monitoring connectivity and troubleshooting issues.
• Provide support for the Verkada security system, including user management, access control, and camera monitoring.

Requirements

Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience in a technical support, help desk, or IT-related role.
• Basic understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and networking.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Preferred:

• Associate degree in Information Technology or related field.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Windows OS, and common office applications.
• Knowledge of IT Support best practices and ticketing systems.
• CompTIA A+ or similar Certification a plus.
