Position Summary

The Associate Clinical Director (ACD) supports the day-to-day operation and oversight of clinical services at Ava Health. The ACD supervises clinical staff, coordinates clinical programming and schedules, maintains documentation and treatment-planning standards, facilitates clinical meetings, and supports interdisciplinary coordination of client care.

The ACD also provides clinical oversight and coordination for Residential and Recovery Residence services, working closely with Residential Lead staff to support programming, communication, client needs, and appropriate clinical response across Ava Health properties.

The ACD works under the supervision of the Clinical Director and may maintain a small clinical caseload while remaining actively involved in clinical programming and staff support.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide supervision, consultation, coaching, and support to assigned clinical staff.
• Manage the clinical program schedule and coordinate staff coverage for groups and clinical programming.
• Coordinate and facilitate clinical meetings and support effective treatment-team communication.
• Monitor clinical documentation for quality, accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
• Ensure clinicians maintain current treatment plans, progress notes, group documentation, discharge documentation, and other required clinical records.
• Conduct routine chart reviews and provide feedback and corrective guidance regarding documentation.
• Support clinicians with case conceptualization, treatment planning, client safety, behavioral concerns, boundaries, and clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate with Nursing, Residential, Admissions/Intake, Case Management, Utilization Review, psychiatric providers, and other departments to coordinate client care.
• Coordinate communication between the clinical team and Residential staff, working closely with Residential Leads to support clinical oversight, consistent programming, client care, and implementation of treatment recommendations within the residential setting.
• Provide Recovery Residence oversight, including collaboration with residential leadership regarding programming, client expectations, behavioral concerns, safety, and continuity of care.
• Support effective communication regarding admissions, treatment needs, safety concerns, level-of-care transitions, and discharge planning.
• Provide leadership and clinical support in response to emergency behaviors, behavioral escalations, safety concerns, and clinical crises occurring at the Crossroads, Sanford, or Recovery Residence properties, coordinating with appropriate staff and leadership as needed.
• Facilitate clinical groups and provide program coverage when needed.
• Maintain a small clinical caseload of Clients or Families when needed.
• Support onboarding, training, and professional development of clinical and residential staff as appropriate.
• Assist with implementation of clinical policies, workflows, programming, and quality-improvement initiatives.
• Identify and escalate significant clinical, staffing, documentation, safety, or operational concerns to the Clinical Director.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or related behavioral health field.
• Current independent behavioral health licensure (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent).
• Experience providing behavioral health treatment, including individual and group services.
• Strong clinical documentation and treatment-planning skills.
• Experience with clinical supervision, consultation, training, or staff development.
• Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to behavioral emergencies, clinical crises, and complex client situations.

Reporting & Accountability

The Associate Clinical Director reports directly to the Clinical Director and is responsible for the day-to-day implementation and oversight of clinical operations within assigned programs, including coordination of clinical services with Residential and Recovery Residence programming.
