Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center (VNACJ CHC) is a federally qualified health center with four locations across Monmouth County, serving patients of all ages. We provide comprehensive, patient centered care, including preventive care, primary care, mental health counseling, prenatal care, dental services, and more. Position Summary : 

The Director of Nursing (DON) oversees the quality of care provided at Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Community Health Center (CHC) sites, in collaboration with the Medical Director. This position is full-time, in-person, with direct day-to-day oversight of two health centers. The DON partners with the Medical Assistant Supervisor for indirect oversight of the remaining two health center locations. Demonstrates a collaborative leadership style, with a focus on a team approach to providing highly reliable, patient-centered care.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

• Supports organization’s mission by striving for excellence in all aspects of their job with a focus on positive interpersonal relationships with colleagues up, down, and across the organization

• Analyzes and develops clinical workflows and standards of care incorporating evidence-informed medicine and leveraging the organization’s electronic health record (EHR)

• Assists in monitoring, analyzing, and presenting clinical service key performance indicators; develops relevant and realistic performance improvement plans and corrective action plans in the same

• Oversees the CHC’s Vaccine Program, including inventory management, provision, and documentation; ensures all program standards of compliance are met on a continuous basis

• Leads the Patient Safety Risk Management committee under the guidance of the Medical Director, as part of a comprehensive Quality Risk Management (QRM) program

• Maintains responsibility for the organization’s on-site lab services, emergency carts, on-site sterilization areas, and vaccine storage, as well as other clinical service areas as assigned, in conjunction with the MA Supervisor

• Develops and oversees the clinical orientation and onboarding programs for non-provider direct patient care staff, as well as the annual training and competency process

• Provides regular in-service training to clinical team members regarding policy and procedure changes and best practices in evidence-informed medicine

• Functions as one of the organization’s EHR superusers

• Oversees the CHC’s CMA externship program with a focus on recruitment and retention of qualified and committed CMA staff

• Oversees the environment of care, ensuring adherence to CHC infection control and safety policies and procedures, including those for emergency response; monitors employee performance in the same

• Oversights the organization’s processes for ensuring par levels for clinical supplies, including medications

• Functions as the Clinical Lead for the triennial HRSA Operational Site Visit and ensures continuous compliance with all applicable QRM standards as outlined in the HRSA Health Center Program and FTCA compliance manuals

• Provides hands-on patient care as needed and as permitted through licensure and scope of practice regulations

 

Competencies & Minimum Qualifications :

• RN; BSN required, MSN preferred

• 5+ years of clinical nursing experience

• 3+ years of ambulatory care experience, FQHC preferred

• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills required

• Ability to coach, train, and mentor required

• Computer proficiency, data analysis skills, MS office required, including advanced Excel; or nursing informatics degree preferred

• Car and valid NJ driver’s license

Working Conditions/Physical Demand : Working indoors. Exposure to blood, body fluids and communicable diseases. In compliance with New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the compensation range for this position is USD $110,000 to $135,000.
