Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Computer Room Air Conditioner (CRAC) Senior Technician to join our dynamic facilities maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of advanced cooling systems that ensure optimal environmental conditions within data centers and server rooms. Your expertise will help maintain the integrity and efficiency of critical mechanical and electrical systems, supporting our commitment to reliable operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical knowledge in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform installation, commissioning, and servicing of computer room air conditioning units, including HVAC system repair and HVAC system installation.
- Diagnose electrical issues using tools such as ohmmeters and conduct electrical diagnostics to identify faults in HVAC/R equipment.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration components, mechanical systems, plumbing connections, and building automation systems to ensure continuous operation.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, fans, filters, and other mechanical equipment to optimize performance.
- Read schematics and technical manuals to accurately interpret system layouts and troubleshoot complex HVAC systems effectively.
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection reports; communicate clearly with team members and clients regarding system status and repairs.
- Support property maintenance activities by coordinating with vendors or contractors for specialized repairs or upgrades when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven construction experience combined with service technician experience in HVAC/R systems.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience repairing mechanical systems such as boilers, pumps, fans, and refrigeration units.
- Proficiency in reading schematics, technical drawings, and HVAC design plans.
- Experience with electrical systems diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters; ability to troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently.
- Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS), HVAC system maintenance practices, and plumbing fundamentals.
- Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications related to HVAC or property maintenance are a plus.
- Familiarity with HVAC system repair techniques including air conditioning units and ventilation systems; experience with HVAC/R equipment troubleshooting is essential.
- Ability to operate hand tools safely and effectively; experience with mechanical systems repair in commercial environments preferred.
- Valid van driver’s license preferred for transportation between sites; excellent customer service skills are essential for interacting professionally with clients and team members alike.
