Part-Time Music Instructor

Montgomery College, Rockville is currently accepting applications for part‑time faculty positions to teach Applied Percussion, Applied Double Reeds, Music Theory and Ear Training/Sight Singing, World Music, and Music Appreciation. Responsibilities Teach lessons in Applied Music. Teach general education courses in World Music and Pop Music. Teach Music Theory and Ear Training courses for majors. Required Qualifications Master's degree in Music or related fields. Demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational setting. Eligibility to work in the United States without a sponsor. Ability to access a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside the work location (this is required for faculty communications and platform access). Preferred Qualifications Previous teaching experience at the post‑secondary level. Keyboard skills for Music Theory and Ear Training. Familiarity with interdisciplinary and contemporary music practices. Employment Conditions Part‑time faculty may teach up to 11.5 equivalent semester hours (ESH) per semester and up to 23 ESH per academic year (or up to 10 ESH for both summer sessions combined). Applicants must be residents of Maryland or states with campus payroll reciprocity (DC, VA, PA, WV, DE, MA). Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable) is required at the time of hire. Applicants with degrees earned outside the U.S. must submit a credential evaluation from a nationally recognized service.
