JQ Staffing Services is seeking an experienced Head Cook to join a welcoming senior community center in Philadelphia. This center serves older adults by providing nutritious meals, engaging activities, social services, and a warm, community-focused environment that celebrates Puerto Rican traditions and culture.

Schedule

• Part-Time – 30 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook daily breakfast and lunch for senior participants.
• Assist with food preparation, including measuring ingredients, washing produce, chopping vegetables, and preparing menu items.
• Prepare simple dishes independently while ensuring consistency and quality.
• Help serve meals and provide courteous assistance to participants during meal service.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen by cleaning food preparation areas, cooking equipment, dishes, utensils, and serving stations.
• Receive and organize food deliveries and kitchen supplies.
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with menu planning, including meals that reflect the traditions and preferences of the senior community served.
• Maintain kitchen inventory and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
• Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous food service or commercial kitchen experience required.
• Experience preparing meals in a high-volume kitchen is preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes and standardized meal preparation procedures.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices; ServSafe Certification is preferred.
• Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
• Friendly, professional, and committed to providing excellent service to seniors.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is strongly preferred to effectively communicate with participants and staff.
