TITLE: Attendance Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred`
2. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and automated systems
3. Knowledge of school attendance and truancy laws preferred
4. Strong written and verbal communication and organization skills
5. Valid Connecticut drivers' license
6. Ability to work independently and collaboratively
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO : Principal

JOB GOAL : To investigate students who are chronically truant and work with these students and their guardians to improve school attendance.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct investigations into student truancy.
2. Make telephone calls to absent and truant students and/or guardians.
3. Conduct home visits of students to encourage school attendance.
4. Prepare and assist in attendance hearings.
5. Create and maintain a data based system for tracking and documentation purposes of messages, home visits, and other intervention attempts.
6. Maintain list(s) of chronically truant students.
7. Maintain positive communication and interactions with parents, guardians, students, and other family members.
8. Assist with development of attendance improvement plans.
9. Assume such other functions as may be determined.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : Seven hours per day, ten-month year. Salary is hourly.


EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Non-Certified Staff.
