Social Content Manager

A major global airline brand is adding a social content manager to its in-house social team — a team that makes its own work rather than handing it to an agency. You’ll be hands-on: capturing content at the airport on a phone or camera one day, shaping the concept and post copy the next, and seeing your ideas run end to end across organic channels and paid social. A slice of the role sits in community management, because staying close to the audience you’re speaking to is what makes the content land. You’ll sit on a nine-person social team, work alongside a creative lead who reviews posts before they go out, and have real room to bring ideas into the room rather than wait for a brief. You Will: Create and edit social content end to end — capturing on phone or camera, selecting footage, pacing cuts, adding captions, preparing final platform-ready exports Develop content plans for activations and announcements Manage projects and content development from ideation to publishing across multiple workstreams Plan and staff small-scale productions at the airport or other client properties Lead creative ideation and concept development, and merchandise concepts to leadership for buy-in Participate in community engagement across platforms to stay close to emerging audience trends Monitor community sentiment and cultural conversations to inform brand tone, actions, and opportunities Use social listening tools (Sprinklr) to identify cultural conversations and spot emerging trends in real time Make recommendations for real-time response based on social data signals Develop feedback loops from the community that influence content and activation decisions Identify opportunities to deepen creator and consumer relationships through proactive outreach Work cross-functionally on forward-looking projects; run meeting agendas, notes, and recaps as needed Participate in a light team on-call rotation — a quick check of email and Teams after hours and weekends for anything high-profile that needs engagement (typically minutes per week, hours flexed) You Have: Experience making social content with your own hands, in-house rather than through an agency — you know enough to be dangerous across capture, edit, and copy, even if you’re not an expert in all three Manager, associate manager, or junior manager level experience — this is not an entry-level role A strong connection to internet culture and deep understanding of social platforms, best practices, trends, and fan communities Ability to develop on-strategy creative concepts and sell them in to leadership Strong project management: independently manage a worklist, build timelines, keep management visible A cross-functional instinct — proactively communicative, shares out with the right teams Creative solutioning for corporate-meets-social challenges and the nimbleness to work against dynamic timelines A track record of “yes, and” Based in Chicagoland, able to work hybrid Open to ad hoc weekend and evening work when needed (up to 10%, with ability to flex time) Able to travel up to 25% Logistics: Hours/Week: Full-time Onsite/offsite: Hybrid, Chicago Team Structure: Sits on a nine-person social team; reports to the social lead, who reports to a director.
