Position Overview

We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and development-oriented Senior Staff Engineer, Internal Platform to join our global Platform Engineering vertical under a permanent, full-time remote footprint open across Greater China and Hong Kong SAR. In this pinnacle technical leadership seat, you will act as the principal architect guiding the core distributed infrastructure that powers OKX’s global operational efficiency and rapid market scaling. Shifting completely away from routine non-regulated data transcription loops, superficial frontend adjustments, or basic helpline ticketing, you will operate an active high-concurrency event streaming, multi-tier database caching, and large-scale architectural modernization laboratory. Partnering directly beside distributed Engineering, Product, and Business stakeholders, you will align cross-functional engineering metrics without direct organizational authority. This position requires a master Java software engineer with 8+ years of high-volume distributed infrastructure history who handles backend services fluidly natively using Backend, DevOps, and Web3 primitives, champions intelligent AI automation, and coordinates seamlessly across multi-regional teams using bilingual English and Mandarin capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Core Platform System Governance: Direct, architect, and optimize large-scale internal platform frameworks to safeguard enterprise throughput velocity and long-term global stability natively utilizing Backend engineering paradigms.
• Technical Roadmap Strategy: Define, author, and influence long-term infrastructure contracts, ensuring high-availability systems scaling, fault-tolerant failovers, and geographic redundancy at massive runtime scale.
• Modernization Framework Instrumentation: Lead deep platform modernization initiatives—encompassing runtime microservices evolution, technical debt eradication, and automated monitoring scaffolding natively deploying DevOps primitives.
• High-Throughput Streaming Calibration: Design and tune low-latency event processing nodes and message queue networks, configuring high-volume telemetry channels natively utilizing Kafka and RocketMQ technologies.
• Multi-Tier Database & Caching Triage: Oversee, optimize, and maintain pristine distributed persistence and discovery clusters, tuning query plans and indices across Redis, MySQL, and Elasticsearch systems.
• Intelligent Automation Engineering: Champion the architectural adoption of AI tooling and smart agentic flows to systematically remove internal operational friction and elevate resource productivity patterns.
• Bilingual Stakeholder Synchronization: Lead complex technical alignment sessions and deliver scannable architectural briefs to distributed multi-regional engineering cells, maintaining fluent written and spoken collaboration in both Mandarin and English .
• Elite Engineering Peer Mentorship: Formulate code review metrics, anchor advanced Spring / Spring Boot patterns, and technically coach senior and staff engineers across the broader enterprise to raise structural execution standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Possess a formal Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a matching highly quantitative technical discipline.
• A minimum of 8+ years of proven, successful professional software development history operating as a Staff Engineer, Principal Developer, Backend Software Architect, Enterprise Infrastructure Director, or closely matching tech-driven engineering leadership capacity.
• Expert Java and Distributed Systems Command: Absolute, world-class technical literacy architecting high-concurrency systems natively utilizing Java, Spring, Spring Boot, Redis, MySQL, and Kafka/RocketMQ architectures.
• Verifiable track record of owning end-to-end design-to-production cycles for complex, highly distributed platforms that service multi-million consumer scales.
• Outstanding written, verbal, and textual presentation communication strengths in both Mandarin and English , with the mandatory capacity to bridge technical depths cleanly across varied geopolitical regions.
• Location Context: Position operates under remote guidelines open exclusively to qualified platform engineering authorities residing permanently within Greater China or Hong Kong SAR .
