Job Description
The Quality Inspector reviews products and materials to ensure they meet all internal and external quality requirements. This role focuses on measuring parts against specifications and drawings, documenting findings, and supporting problem solving across production areas. The inspector collaborates with operators, brazing, testing, and assembly teams to verify that all components and finished products meet established quality standards.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain clear quality standards for products produced within the facility.
Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications to confirm that operations meet production and quality standards.
Measure objects and parts using tools such as calipers and micrometers to verify compliance with specifications and drawings.
Inspect and test materials and finished products as required to ensure they meet quality requirements.
Accept or reject finished products based on inspection criteria and communicate inspection results to the production team.
Identify products that do not meet production standards and recommend strategies to improve product quality.
Recommend and support necessary adjustments or changes to production processes to resolve quality issues.
Perform random inspections to assess ongoing product quality and process consistency.
Provide problem-solving support and act as a quality resource for operators, brazing, testing, and assembly departments.
Use visual inspection techniques to identify defects or nonconformities in parts and assemblies.
Influence and encourage team members to follow established quality rules, procedures, and regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S standards.
Assist in other duties or support additional departments as operational needs change.
Essential Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand how parts and assemblies function.
Experience in a manufacturing or production environment with exposure to quality control or inspection activities.
Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
Ability to perform detailed visual inspections and quality checks on parts and finished products.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify root causes of quality issues and propose effective solutions.
High attention to detail to ensure accurate measurements, documentation, and defect identification.
Technical skills and the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical documents, and manuals.
Knowledge of basic math and computer skills to support measurement, documentation, and reporting tasks.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly share inspection results and collaborate with production teams.
Ability to influence others to follow quality rules, standards, and procedures.
Team-oriented mindset with strong collaboration skills.
Dexterity, physical strength, and stamina to handle parts, operate tools, and remain on task throughout the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Background in manufacturing processes and production operations.
Familiarity with quality assurance principles and methods.
Experience using hoists or similar equipment in a production or manufacturing setting.
Comfort working with a variety of departments, including operators, brazing, testing, and assembly.
Ability to adapt to changing departmental needs and take on additional duties as required.
Commitment to workplace organization and continuous improvement practices such as 5S.

Work Environment
This is a second-shift position in a very clean, modern manufacturing facility with newly installed air conditioning. Typical hours are approximately 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Each workday begins with a 2:30 p.m. meeting to share information and updates for the second shift, and attendance at this meeting is required. The role involves working on the production floor and in inspection areas, using precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers, as well as performing visual inspections. The environment supports organized, 5S-driven work areas and emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficient production operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
