Mitchell Hamline School of Law is seeking a full-time (2:30pm - 10:30pm) Campus Security Officer to help maintain a safe, welcoming, and secure campus environment for students, employees, and visitors. This is a highly visible, service-oriented position that combines campus patrol, emergency response, building security, and community assistance. The Security Officer serves as a first point of contact during safety concerns and emergencies and is expected to exercise sound judgment, communicate professionally, and provide excellent service to the campus community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Make regular inspection tours of campus buildings, parking lots, and grounds to prevent theft, vandalism, and other security incidents.
• Respond promptly to calls for assistance, alarms, and emergency situations (medical, fire, safety, etc.).
• Monitor surveillance systems and access control systems.
• Ensure that only authorized persons are admitted to assigned areas of building
• Enforce campus rules, parking regulations, and safety procedures.
• Conduct safety checks of doors, windows, and equipment.
• Prepare accurate incident, accident, and daily activity reports.
• Provide safety escorts for students, staff, and visitors as needed.
• Assist law enforcement and emergency personnel when required.
• Work and communicate with internal and external customers to meet their needs in a polite, courteous, and cooperative manner

• General knowledge of procedures involved in buildings and grounds security.
• Exceptional customer service abilities, with the ability to communicate effectively and courteously with both internal and external customers.

• Good deductive reasoning skills.
• Ability to maintain simple records.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma with some specialized training of less than 2 years (technical or business school)
• 3 years security experience
• Valid Driver's license
• Acceptable FBI/BCA background check and Motor vehicle check

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in first aid/CPR/AED/BBP and self-defense (or are willing to become certified or recertified at employer's expense)

Pay Range

The estimated pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 per hour.
