Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic MRI examinations according to physician orders and established imaging protocols
• Screen patients thoroughly for MRI safety, including implants, devices, medical history, and contraindications
• Prepare and position patients accurately to obtain high-quality diagnostic images
• Explain MRI procedures to patients and provide reassurance, particularly to patients experiencing anxiety or claustrophobia
• Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently according to manufacturer and facility guidelines
• Select appropriate imaging sequences and protocols based on the examination requested
• Administer contrast media when authorized and monitor patients for potential adverse reactions
• Evaluate images for technical quality and repeat sequences when necessary
• Maintain accurate patient information and procedure documentation in the EMR and PACS
• Perform routine equipment checks and report technical or maintenance concerns promptly
• Follow MRI safety, infection prevention, radiation safety, HIPAA, and patient-care standards
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
• Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations within the MRI environment
• Maintain a clean, organized, and patient-friendly imaging area

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI Technology program
• Minimum 1 year of recent MRI Technologist experience
• ARRT certification with MRI credentials preferred or required by facility
• Active Connecticut Radiologic Technologist license, as applicable
• Current BLS Certification required
• Strong knowledge of MRI anatomy, positioning, protocols, and safety procedures
• Experience with contrast administration and patient monitoring preferred
• Familiarity with PACS and electronic medical record systems
• Excellent communication, critical-thinking, and patient-care skills
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a busy diagnostic imaging environment
