Neonatology - NICU Hospitalist - Staff Physician

Overview

Hospitalist physicians provide direct care to neonatal patients admitted to a Level IV NICU in Cincinnati Children’s. They work alongside the attending neonatologist, multidisciplinary teams, and neonatal nurse practitioners, and may engage in educational and quality improvement projects. Work involves day and night shifts, with an average of three 12‑hour shifts per week for work/life balance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to neonatal patients in Level IV NICU.
• Collaborate with attending neonatologists for day‑to‑day management of complex and acutely ill patients.
• Work in multidisciplinary teams including nurses and allied health professionals.
• Participate in educational and quality improvement projects within the NICU.
• Assist with weekend and holiday rotations per schedule.

Qualifications

• M.D., D.O., or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited pediatric residency program.
• Newborn training or experience in Level III/IV NICU.
• Board certification or eligibility in Pediatrics.
• Orientation provided upon appointment.
