Secondary Special Education Teacher

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Secondary Special Education Teacher to join our team at Tawas Area High School, with a preferred additional ELA endorsement. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students with disabilities. This full-time position requires collaboration with general education teachers, parents, and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and social success for all students. Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring alignment with state and federal guidelines. Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings, focusing on academic, social, and emotional development. Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional strategies and IEPs as needed to promote student growth. Maintain accurate records of student performance, behavior, and communication with parents and other stakeholders. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and fosters a sense of belonging. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies. Collaborate with related service providers, such as speech therapists and occupational therapists, to support student needs. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns. Engage in school-wide initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Valid state teaching certification in Special Education for secondary education. Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting is preferred. Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation, as well as knowledge of special education laws and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. Ability to differentiate instruction and use various teaching methodologies to meet the diverse needs of students. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage student records and documentation effectively. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences. #J-18808-Ljbffr
