Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Meet one of the following requirements: earned a doctoral, master's or bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; have earned an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution or have education and training equivalent to that specified by CLIA that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent, including at least 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include six semester hours of chemistry, six semester hours of biology, and twelve semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination; have laboratory training that includes completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS; at least 3 months documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high complexity testing; have previously qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under 493.1491 on or before February 28, 1992; must be certified with a recognized Medical Technologist certifying agency such as ASCP, AMT, HHS/HEW, AAB, or others as an MT; persons who meet the above CLIA requirements for high complexity testing who are not certified as a Medical Technologist will be given one year post hire to obtain a certification; must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient’s seen in their assigned area; must be able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s age specific needs and provide the care needed by our patient groups (i.e., neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric); normal color vision in order to discriminate and verify diagnostic laboratory stains and color dependent test. Working Conditions - ADA Information Modern hospital Laboratory. Work activities will include light lifting (not to exceed 25 pounds), walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting and pushing objects. Must be able to operate office equipment, computer terminals and keyboards, and computerized lab equipment. Works with blood and body fluids where exposure to infections disease is a risk. Must have knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and training in handling of hazardous chemicals. Complies with biohazard/radiation safety standards and laboratory policy and procedures through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical, biological agents and/or radiation sources in the workplace. Uses standard precautions and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including eye protection, face shields, lab coats, and or gloves to protect self and co-workers from biohazards materials, including blood-borne pathogens. #J-18808-Ljbffr
