Situated in Palm Beach County, the Center provides a broad spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care to clients and their families in surrounding communities.Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team in providing comprehensive mental health services to adult/geriatric clients of center programs. The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of psychiatric disorders in the clients. This role involves conducting thorough assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based therapeutic interventions.Purpose Provides psychiatric services to adult/geriatric clients of center programs.Education & ExperienceM.D. or D.O. degree, current valid Florida medical licenseKnowledge, Skills & CompetenciesDemonstrate the ability to interpret and abide by confidentiality laws, abuse reporting guidelines, client rights requirements, and adhere to a code of ethical and practice standardsMust be knowledgeable of Backer Act and Marchman ActExperience with counseling/psychiatric interventionsProficiency in client care protocol for children/adolescentsExcellent communication skills, both written & verbal: must be able to articulate reports and evaluations regarding clinical and non-clinical issuesKnowledge of medications for child/adolescent specific dosingAptitude for coaching clients about their illnessCompetence educating clients about peer influence conceptsResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and create tailored treatment plans.Prescribe medications based on diagnosisEvaluate effectiveness of medications(s), including side effects or lack there ofEducate clients, significant others, & staff about medications and interactionsProvide consultation to staff about medication, treatment issues, & termination of clients' treatmentsCollaborate with other mental health professionals, educators, and families to support patient care.Perform mental status examinationDetermine Five (5) Axis Diagnosis based on DSM IV criteria, including GAF scoreOffer discussions on psychodynamics of evaluations (i.e. family environment)Deliver consultations concerning health statusReview & sign-off on treatment plans, medication dividers, and insurance formsProvide correspondence regarding clients issues as appropriate to internal/external sourcesOther Minor or Occasional TasksAttend medical staff meetingsParticipate in QI teams and committees to further performance improvement activitiesCrisis Stabilization Unit on-call as determined by Chief Medical OfficerPerforms other duties as assignedJoin our team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our clients facing mental health challenges.We are a drug free employer.South County Mental Health Center, Inc is an EOE.
