Job Description Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is looking for a dedicated Behavioral Health Therapist to join the team. With the demand for behavioral health services continuing to grow, IMVH extended our 30‑bed behavioral health unit to 50 beds in mid‑2023. The new 20‑bed unit is designed with the specific needs of this specialized population in mind, and the current unit was also upgraded and modernized. IMVH received the 2021 Guardian of Excellence Award for Patient Experience from Press Ganey, recognizing organizations ranked in the 95th percentile among healthcare facilities nationwide. Inova Mount Vernon Hospital is a 237‑bed hospital offering patients convenience and state‑of‑the‑art care in a community environment. Our 26‑acre campus features landscaped open space and specially designed gardens for moments of serenity. Responsibilities Provide mental health and/or substance use disorder therapeutic interventions, psycho‑educational programming, and behavioral interventions as indicated. Assist patients and families in achieving goals of individualized service plans. Participate in inpatient and community psycho‑educational programs. Facilitate support groups for specified disease processes related to mental health, medical diagnosis, chronic or life‑limited illnesses. Assist with community outreach initiatives. Perform duties under the clinical supervision of an approved registered clinical supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Certification – Basic Life Support within 3 months of hire; Crisis Prevention Institute in‑person training for non‑violent crisis intervention, receive CPI blue card within 6 months of hire; after 9/1/25, Vistelar replaces CPI for new and renewed de‑escalation certifications. Licensure – Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP), or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP) within 5 years. Must comply with the appropriate licensing board requirement for registering as a Resident in Training or Supervisee in Clinical Social Work or applicable title within 4 months of hire. Experience – Internship in mental health or substance use disorder treatment completed within 90 days of employment. Education – Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science and Health, Masters degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, counseling, psychology, or a behavioral health‑related field.
