Job Title: Med Surg/Tele Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Med Surg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year of acute care experience License: Valid Registered Nurse License required Certifications: BLS certification required Must-Have: - Comfort with complex patients - Experience with titrating drips - Must have experience with drips - Previous travel experience preferred Description: Join a dynamic team working in a Med Surg/Tele unit. The unit handles a variety of patient diagnoses, including oncology, hematology, GI bleeds, PE/DVT, sepsis, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, and general medical conditions. Nurse to patient ratios are generally 1:4-5 during the day/evening shifts and 1:6 at night, with a possibility of higher ratios if short-staffed. Centralized telemetry techs monitor and read strips, but nurses are expected to be tele-aware. Charge nurses and house supervisors are available on all shifts, with charge nurses taking modified patient assignments. Nurse aides are present on the unit to assist with patient care. Respiratory therapy is available on-site 24/7, overseeing multiple units. Schedule requests will be accommodated as possible, but block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Weekends and holidays are required, with a commitment to every other weekend and specified holiday coverage. Floating may be required within med-surg units but will be limited to tasks as needed. Scrubs of any color without logos from other health systems are acceptable. A unit-specific orientation is conducted to ensure familiarity with protocols and procedures.
