Registered Nurse

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care to the patient in the C.V. Laboratory. The R.N. administers medications, observes for complications and intervenes when emergencies occur. The R.N. will scrub to assist the physician during all procedures (except PTCA) and will run the Code 300.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates accurate utilization of the new CERNER platform (E.H.R.) as evidenced by less than 3 omissions of mandatory charting requirements within a 12 month period.
• Regularly check email for corporate and department communications.
• Displays knowledge and complies with the National Patient Safety Goals.
• Implements an age-appropriate plan of care in conjunction with the health care team per Scope of Service.
• Attends all UofL Health required educational programs as well as all Learn (KNOW) Modules

Additional Job Description:

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification) Education / Accreditation / Licensure (required & preferred): Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Kentucky. Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University. Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Experience (required and preferred): A minimum of two years of Cardiovascular Laboratory experience or two years of critical care experience (required).

Adequate conversational English is required in order that the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and organizational policies.

Reasoning Ability: Able to critically think through complex situations, process improvements, and evidence-based practice. Able to assist others in developing good reasoning skills. Able to work independently and within a team setting.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel.
