$19 - $24 per hour

Aerotek

Job Title: Assembly Technician

Job Description

The Assembly Technician uses light mechanical skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent manual dexterity to assemble and inspect medical device products in a climate-controlled manufacturing environment. You will join a small, growing start-up team and play a key role as one of the first members of the manufacturing function. The work will initially be highly repetitive, focusing on assembling and inspecting the same components, with the opportunity to expand into additional tasks as the team and processes evolve. This role requires adaptability, comfort with changing priorities, and a willingness to provide feedback and ideas to help refine and improve production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Use basic tools such as a drill press, arbor press, and finishing tools to perform final assembly of medical device components, including drilling holes, performing countersinks, and pressing pins into place.

  • Assemble and glue small parts of the device, ensuring proper fit and function while maintaining a high level of precision.

  • Perform visual inspection of assembled parts and components to verify quality and identify defects or inconsistencies.

  • Conduct final basic inspection of products using micrometers, calipers, pin gages, and a digital microscope to confirm they meet specifications and tolerances.

  • Handle and manipulate small parts with consistent accuracy, leveraging strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Follow established work instructions, procedures, and quality standards to ensure consistent and compliant assembly processes.

  • Document work as needed using basic computer skills, including entering inspection data or production information.

  • Participate in daily or weekly team meetings to provide updates on work progress, share feedback, and contribute ideas for process improvements.

  • Adapt to evolving tasks and responsibilities as the start-up grows, taking on new assignments and supporting different aspects of manufacturing as needed.

  • Collaborate closely with team members and leadership to support a continuous improvement culture and help refine production methods.

Essential Skills

  • Light mechanical aptitude with experience using basic hand tools.

  • Experience performing visual or mechanical inspection of parts or products.

  • High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.

  • Good manual dexterity with hands, including the ability to handle small components consistently and precisely.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to provide updates and feedback in a team setting.

  • Basic computer skills for simple data entry and documentation tasks.

  • Comfort using tools such as drill presses, arbor presses, and finishing tools.

  • Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, pin gages, and digital microscopes after training.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or working in a cleanroom environment.

  • Experience working for a start-up company or in a fast-changing environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new processes and tasks as responsibilities evolve.

  • Interest in contributing ideas for process improvement and continuous improvement initiatives.

Why Work Here?

You will join a high-growth start-up at an early stage, with the opportunity to be one of the first ten employees and have a direct impact on how the manufacturing function develops. The organization offers a full benefits package, including healthcare and a 401(k) plan, as well as an annual bonus program tied to both individual and company goals, giving you clear ownership over your performance and rewards. Eligible employees receive stock options, with a traditional vesting schedule that supports long-term alignment and potential upside as the company grows. The culture encourages regular interaction with executives, open communication, and collaboration, allowing you to learn directly from leadership and gain broad exposure across the business. The work environment emphasizes flexibility, trust, and accountability, providing room to grow your skills and expand your responsibilities over time.

Work Environment

This role is based in a climate-controlled medical device manufacturing environment that emphasizes cleanliness, precision, and consistent quality. You will work with basic hand tools and equipment such as drill presses, arbor presses, finishing tools, micrometers, calipers, pin gages, and digital microscopes. The schedule is fairly flexible, with core hours from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. when all team members are expected to be present; outside of those core hours, start times can be adjusted (for example, starting at 6:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., or 10:00 a.m.), as long as you adhere to the agreed schedule and complete your work. The organization follows a traditional holiday schedule and offers vacation time once you become a permanent employee. The environment supports close collaboration with leaders and executives, fostering open communication and a start-up culture where everyone contributes to the company’s growth.
