The Tone This is a travel nursing role for a Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The TL;DR Role: Full Time Type: Travel, Contract Location: In-person, Indianapolis, IN Team: Clinical Services Mission: To provide specialized Labor and Delivery nursing care, ensuring positive patient outcomes at IU Health facilities. Tech Stack: Cerner What You’ll Actually Do Provide comprehensive Labor and Delivery nursing care to patients, including thorough assessment and monitoring. Administer crucial medications and therapies such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and blood products, while initiating and maintaining peripheral IVs. Assist in various delivery scenarios, ranging from routine vaginal births to high-risk C-sections, forceps/vacuum extractions, and management of hemorrhage. Perform comprehensive newborn care immediately post-delivery, including APGAR scores, neonatal resuscitation, assessments, and identification. Utilize external and internal fetal monitoring (EFM, IUPC) effectively, recognizing and treating abnormal fetal heart rate patterns. The Must-Haves Background: Registered Nurse (RN) with a specialty in Labor and Delivery. Experience: Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, along with prior travel nursing experience. First-time travelers and local applicants are not accepted. Skills: Current BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate course certifications are required. Proficiency in Cerner charting, non-stress tests (NST), managing complex obstetric conditions (e.g., pre-eclampsia, diabetes, multiple gestation), administering anesthesia (epidural, general, opioids), and providing postpartum care (fundus/lochia/perineum care, wound assessment). #J-18808-Ljbffr IU Health
