ESIS Claims Senior Specialist, AGL

Job Description ESIS is a risk management services provider dedicated to reducing claims frequency and loss costs. We are seeking an experienced Auto, General & Liability (AGL) Claim Specialist for our Overland Park, KS office. The specialist will handle and maintain all AGL claims and file reviews, working under general supervision of the Claims Team Leader as part of the ESIS team. Key Objectives Under the direction of the Claims Team Leader, investigate and settle claims promptly, equitably, and within established best practice guidelines. Major Duties & Responsibilities Receive assignments and review claim and policy information to provide background for investigation and determine the extent of the policy’s obligation to the insured. Contact, interview and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, physicians, attorneys, police officers, etc. to secure necessary claim information. Inspect and appraise property damage or arrange for appraisal as appropriate for the line of business. Evaluate facts from investigations to determine extent of liability and the company’s obligation under the policy contract. Prepare reports on investigation, settlements, denials, and evaluation of involved parties. Set reserves within authority limits and recommend reserve changes to the Team Leader. Review progress and status of claims with the Team Leader and discuss problems and suggested remedial actions. Prepare and submit unusual or potential exposure claims for review. Assist the Team Leader in developing methods and improvements for handling claims. Settle claims promptly and equitably. Manage litigated files by directing defense counsel to ensure best possible outcomes. Obtain releases, proofs of loss or compensation agreements and issue company drafts in payment for claims. Inform claimants, insureds/customers, or attorneys of claim denials when applicable. Qualifications Minimum of 7 years claims handling experience in Auto and General Liability. Experience in a TPA environment strongly preferred. Knowledge of coverage, applicable legal principles, and litigation management. Experience with auto liability cost containment programs and proven account‑management skills. Strong litigation‑management skills. Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills for interacting with all levels of an organization. Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability. Demonstrated ability to provide consistently superior service to customers. Required to hold a state license or a designating home‑state adjuster’s license (adjusters that do not meet the license requirements will not meet ESIS employment requirements for handling claims). ESIS supports independent self‑study time and will allow up to 4 months to pass the adjuster licensing exam.
