Responsibilities Assess plans, organize, perform, and evaluate nursing activities to meet patient needs. Promote adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction. Exhibit compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions. Coordinate patient care and interaction of staff. Meet the qualifications to provide care for patients in assigned nursing unit. Ensure the very best patient and family experience by optimizing all interactions. Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards. Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout continuum of care. Formulate, coordinate, and provide plan of care as established in unit standards including patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of interdisciplinary team. Provide direct patient care including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure. Evaluate effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise plan of care based upon patient response to interventions. Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and act to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs. Problem solve, troubleshoot and take corrective measures in care and handling of equipment. Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding utilization of evidence-based practice. Actively participate as team member working toward team goals of unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system specific metrics. Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
