The Enhanced Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving Enhanced In-Home and Community Supports (IHCS). Services are provided in the individual’s home and community in accordance with the Individual Support Plan (ISP), Behavior Support Plan (BSP), PA ODP 6100 regulations, and agency policies and procedures.

 

Enhanced DSPs support individuals with complex behavioral and/or medical support needs. This role promotes independence, community integration, skill development, personal growth, health, and safety while maintaining the dignity and respect of each individual served.

What you’ll do

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities — both at home and in their community — helping them live as independently as possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide direct care and individualized support to participants in home and community settings.
• Implement individualized support strategies, behavior support plans, and person-centered goals identified in the Individual Support Plan (ISP).
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, meal preparation, mobility, and household tasks.
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills, communication skills, and social/community engagement.
• Utilize positive behavior support techniques and approved crisis intervention strategies when necessary.
• Monitor and report changes in behavior, medical condition, or overall well-being.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation, including daily notes, behavioral data, incident reports, and medication documentation, as required.
• Transport individuals to appointments, recreational activities, community outings, and other approved activities as needed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including Program Specialists, Behavior Specialists, nurses, therapists, Supports Coordinators, and family members.
• Maintain compliance with PA ODP 6100 regulations, agency policies, HIPAA requirements, and mandatory training requirements.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for individuals receiving services. 

 

Requirements

• Possession of one or more of the following preferred qualifications: RN or LPN license, CNA certification, RBT certification, BCaBA credential, or a bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, special education, counseling, social work, gerontology, or a related field. Completion of required NADD training may substitute for the above qualifications.
• Knowledge of PA ODP 6100 regulations and ability to maintain compliance in daily practice.
• Successful background check and required in-service trainings
• At least 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance, inspection and registration
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

*New Hire Milestone Bonus: The $1,000 new hire milestone bonus is valid for caregivers that start on 6/22/2026 or later. This new hire bonus is paid in 8 increments, with the total accumulated $1,000 paid out after the caregiver has worked 1,000 hours from the start date. Caregivers must be active and must use electronic visit verification for hours to accumulate toward payout milestones. Caregivers transferring from an organization within the Help at Home, LLC portfolio of companies are not eligible to receive the bonus. Former employees must be returning after an absence period of at least one year to be eligible. The milestones must be reached within 18 months from start date.
