Job Description This position is accountable for the provision of patient care and other activities as permitted by licensure as defined in Credentialing and Privileging documentation, Credentialing and Scope of Practice, Consultation and Referral Plan, and similar documentation. As part of patient care, this role focuses on delivering optimal patient care through effective clinical practice, education of patients, families, clinical staff, and consultation with other healthcare providers, while maintaining current knowledge of treatment options. Scope Nurse Practitioner (APRN) – Professional Accountability: Practice within scope of licensure as defined in the Utah Nurse Practice Act/Rules, national certification, education, training, and consistent with Intermountain Healthcare approved privileges and/or other aspects of credentialing. Advanced practice registered nursing includes regulation of health promotion, disease prevention; diagnosis, treatment, correction, consultation, and referral for common health problems; prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices including local anesthesia, schedule IV-V controlled substances, and schedule II-III controlled substances in accordance with a consultation and referral plan. Job Essentials Position Specific Duties This position is accountable for the provision of patient care and other duties as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation, Credentialing and Scope of Practice, Consultation and Referral Plan, Delegation of Services Agreement, or similar documentation. Clinical Practice Performs patient assessment to obtain a complete and accurate record of the patient’s clinical information and medical symptoms. Orders tests and exams to obtain additional information needed to ensure proper and complete care of patient. Based on assessment, diagnoses patient needs and determines a plan of care. Interprets patient care tests and exams to obtain needed information to guide care. Provides treatment of the patient (and oversees the treatment provided by others), including appropriate prescriptive practice to achieve optimal clinical outcomes. Utilizes advanced specialty knowledge to ensure that the care provided is appropriate, effective, timely, and cost efficient. Performs diagnostic or therapeutic procedures as defined by Scope of Practice. Completes appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care. Codes and bills accurately per established protocol and procedure. Ensures that records are detailed and complete and comply with related standards and regulations. Education Conducts and coordinates education to increase the knowledge of patient, patient family, and others. Provides appropriate instruction based on patient needs to support the continuum of care. Trains other staff in areas of clinical expertise. Provides teaching of students as appropriate to increase their clinical knowledge and ensure safe patient care. Stays abreast of current trends in healthcare practice and participates in continuing medical education to ensure optimal clinical knowledge and effective patient care skill. Consultation/Collaboration Coordinates and collaborates patient care efforts with other care providers. Communicates clinical information timely, accurately, thoroughly, and appropriately to other providers of patient care. May collaborate with other care providers in the effective sharing of practice expertise. Research May participate in research and utilizes evidence-based practice to promote quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population. Supports professional development through research processes. Minimum Qualifications Current state license as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Certification as a Nurse Practitioner (Credentialing requirement). Eligible for State Controlled Substance License II through V. Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V. BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers. Other certification as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NRP). Preferred Qualifications Masters degree. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified. Applicable certification from a recognized certifying organization such as American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Applicable experience as defined by position leadership. Physical Demands Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. Includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment, power cords on the floor. May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time. Location Mountain Family Health – Park City, Utah Salary and Benefits The hourly range for this position is $56.76 - $87.59, actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
