Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Job Description

Job Summary:
A telemetry nurse is a specialized registered nurse responsible for continuously monitoring patients' vital signs and heart rhythms with advanced equipment such as EKGs. This role involves providing critical care for acutely ill patients, often transitioning from intensive care units, who require near-constant observation for heart conditions and other serious health issues.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and vital signs using automated systems.
• Assess patient conditions and respond promptly to any abnormalities.
• Document all observations accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
• Provide patient education regarding their condition and post-discharge instructions.
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols and safety standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid state RN license with at least 2 years of registered nurse experience in telemetry.
• NIH stroke certification and training in stroke protocols required.
• BLS certification through AHA is mandatory; NIHSS and ACLS certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in using clinical monitoring equipment and interpreting cardiac rhythms.
• Strong assessment skills with ability to make quick, informed decisions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
